Senator Mitch McConnell released from hospital and sent to rehab for recovery

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell has been released from the hospital and sent to a rehabilitation facility to continue his recovery. McConnell suffered multiple fractures in his leg after falling at his home in Louisville, Kentucky. The 79-year-old underwent surgery for the injuries and had to spend several days in the hospital.

McConnell's office released a statement saying that the senator is "grateful to the doctors and nurses at Baptist Health Louisville for their outstanding care" and that he is looking forward to continuing his recovery at the rehabilitation center.

McConnell has been a senator for Kentucky since 1985 and has served as the Senate Minority Leader since 2021. He has been an influential figure in Republican politics for decades and has played a significant role in shaping the party's policies and agenda.

His absence from the Senate has been felt as Democrats have pushed forward with their legislative agenda, including the passage of the $1.9 trillion COVID-19 relief bill. McConnell has been a vocal opponent of the bill and has criticized Democrats for passing it without bipartisan support.

As McConnell continues his recovery, the Senate will have to operate without him, and his absence could have an impact on Republican efforts to block the Biden administration's agenda.
