#PSG suffers first home defeat of the season to Rennes in Ligue 1
Paris St Germain (PSG) suffered their first home defeat in the Ligue 1 this season after a 2-1 loss to Stade Rennais on Saturday. The French giants, who have been in impressive form, went into the game with a chance to increase their lead at the top of the table but were undone by a resilient Rennes side.
Rennes took the lead in the 18th minute through midfielder Flavien Tait, who scored a stunning volley past PSG goalkeeper Keylor Navas. PSG responded in the 38th minute with a goal from Kylian Mbappe, but Rennes sealed the victory in the 71st minute with a goal from Kamaldeen Sulemana.
Despite PSG's dominance in possession and shot attempts, they were unable to break down a resolute Rennes defence. The defeat means that PSG's lead at the top of the Ligue 1 table is now only four points, with second-placed AS Monaco having a game in hand.
The result is a significant blow to PSG's hopes of winning the Ligue 1 title this season, but they still have eight games remaining to secure the championship. PSG will now turn their attention to their upcoming UEFA Champions League quarter-final clash against Liverpool.
